About the Role

The Finance Analyst is a key member of the commercial finance team partnering with the Buying Team. The role is responsible for helping to consolidate the weekly, monthly sales, and GP results and contributing to the forecast and budgeting process across commercials.

The ideal candidate is in their second year of university studying towards a Bachelor of Accounting. We will mentor and challenge you to help solve complex issues facing Woolworths Supermarkets with on-the-job experiences, skills training, and programs to help you launch your career with Woolworths. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver insightful analysis and commercial recommendations across sales, gross profit, and inventory
  • Work closely with partner teams (eCom, Loyalty, Format, Foodco, Cartology, Stock Loss, etc.) to understand performance drivers and achieve strategic alignment with the buying team 
  • Drive monthly Overhead, Headcount, and Capex Reporting, and Forecasting process, ensure a timely & accurate month-end completion
  • Contribute to the end-to-end process of the annual operating plan ensuring there is a link to the strategic plan, where capital and OPEX investments are linked to benefits, where appropriate
  • Contribute to the monthly forecast process and weekly forecast update to understand key performance drivers and course correction actions
  • Identify key drivers of profit and opportunities for business improvement across all levels and across key sales categories 
  • Identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Develop and implement process improvements (with support) to ensure a standard, lean and efficient operating model
  • Support business improvement initiatives

What you will bring
